Welcome to the KU Engineering Career Center web site!
Our goal is to provide all engineering students and interested
alumni with information, resources, and opportunities to enhance
their career development, as well as assist them in successfully
connecting with employers or graduate/professional school programs,
so they may confidently pursue their desired career goals.
- Individual Appointments
-
Students often have questions or concerns about their particular
situations that are not answered during group workshops or
through our resources. Individual assistance is available to
students at any phase of the career planning and job seeking
process.
- Workshops
-
Students are welcome to attend the various career related
workshops offered every semester by the Engineering Career
Center as well as most workshops offered by other campus career
centers. A typical semester will include workshops on the basic
job search tools such as resume writing, interviewing skills,
networking, and etiquette plus some specialized topics.
-
Resources and tools to prepare for the next step in the career
process
-
Students can access multiple resources through on-line links
from our web site as well as in print format at 1001 Eaton
Hall, (e.g. booklets, magazines, directories). Resources range
from job search tools and graduate school materials to
industry directories.
- Career Fairs
-
Two annual Career Fairs focused on engineering and computer
science students, usually held each September and February. All
KU students and alumni are welcome to attend these events.
- Job, Internship, and Research Postings
-
Many employers send vacancy notices of openings they have for
internship, co-op, and permanent positions and these position
listings are posted to our on-line Career Connections system.
All KU School of Engineering students and alumni are welcome to
view these postings at no charge.
- On Campus Interviews
-
During the fall and spring semesters, employers visit campus to
interview students for internship, co-op, and permanent
positions. Registered students utilize our on-line Career
Connections system to request and schedule interviews. There is
a small one-time registration fee.
- Resume Referrals
-
Employers often request resumes of students whose qualifications
align with requirements of positions they have open. The
resumes of registered students included in our Career
Connections system that meet the employer's criteria, are
forwarded on to the employer. There is a small one-time
registration fee.
- National job search assistance
-
Career Center staff can often assist students looking outside of
this area through letters of reciprocity with other universities
and a database of School of Engineering alumni.
- Fax machine for job related faxes
- Telephone interview room
- Video interviewing arrangements available
- Special Accommodations
-
We are committed to ensuring that all students and alumni have
the opportunity to participate in the services and activities
offered by this office. If, due to disability, you require
accommodations to utilize our services, please contact us at ecc@ku.edu or (785) 864-3891 and
let us know how we may assist you.
Note: On Campus Interviews and Resume Referrals
are the only two Engineering Career Center services that require any
type of fee or registration process.
