Minors

A great way to broaden your education, enhance professional skills and have an advantage in a competitive job market is to earn a minor along with your engineering major. An engineering student who wants to minor in a department in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) should follow these steps:

  1. Go to the departmental office of the minor that you are interested in. Talk to an advisor and fill out a Minor Declaration Form. Take the signed form to the CLAS office at 109 Strong Hall, and a copy to the engineering dean's office, 1 Eaton Hall.
  2. When you enroll for your last semester, submit an application for degree for your minor to the CLAS office at 109 Strong Hall. The minor application form is in addition to the Application for Degree form that you submit online for your engineering major.
  3. During your graduation semester, obtain a Minor Certification Sheet from CLAS. This must be approved by your minor advisor and a CLAS graduation advisor in 109 Strong Hall. Also notify the Director of Academic Services in the engineering dean's office that you are completing the minor.
