Student Organizations
Engineering Student Council (ESC)
Engineering Student Council sponsors a variety of activities each
year. A major effort of the council is the annual Engineering Expo.
Expo is an opportunity for student groups to plan and create
engineering projects for public display. Awards are given for the
best displays. Along with Tau Beta Pi, an engineering honor
society, the council organizes the annual Engineering Olympics in
which all engineering students are invited to compete.

Society of Women Engineers
Society of women engineers is an organization dedicated to the
promotion and support of women students in engineering. Regular
meetings give women an opportunity to talk with each other, with
faculty, and with industry representatives to discuss matters of
concern to women engineers. There are a variety of activities
throughout the year, including pizza parties, resume workshops and
dinners with representatives from industry. Look for posters around
Learned Hall and Eaton Hall announcing meetings and activities. All
women are encouraged to participate.

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers
The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers was founded in Los
Angeles, California by a group of engineers employed by the city of Los
Angeles. Their objective was to form an organization of professional
engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community.
The concept of Networking was the key basis for the organization.
Student chapters to begin the network that would grow to encompass the
nation. SHPE enjoys a strong but independent network of professional and
student chapters throughout the nation.
The University of Kansas Chapter was organized 1988, and has continued
to be committed to meet the educational goals of the School of
Engineering, and the national organization.
