Thank you for your interest in the Biodynamics Laboratory.
The University of Kansas Biodynamics Laboratory is dedicated to investigating the effects of age and movement disorders on balance, gait and motor control. Recent research topics include the biomechanical analyses of balance recovery, postural sway, gait and force control. We have investigated the effects of age, age related disease, and fatigue on the parameters used to quantify the performance of these tasks.
The Biodynamics laboratory is affiliated with both the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Bioengineering Graduate program. We collaborate with researchers from the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Center, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science, and Molecular and Integrative Physiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
KU's Biodynamics Research Laboratory is located in 2110 Learned Hall on the Lawrence campus. This facility is equipped with state of the art equipment committed to human motion analysis.
