Human Motion Control Laboratory within the department
of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kansas
is led by Sara Wilson,
PhD. The work of this laboratory is focused
on examining how humans control and stabilize motion
and the dynamic behavior of the human body. The research
conducted in this lab includes examination of the
control of trunk and spinal motion in order to better
understand risk factors for age-related vertebral
fractures and low back pain. The effects of these
conditions and scoliosis on the control of trunk
motion are also assessed.
This research is performed in collaboration with
researchers on the Lawrence (main) campus and with
researchers and clinicians at the University of
Kansas Medical Center (KUMC), the University of
Virginia, and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical
Center in Boston.
